"Shankara Orchestra", founded by Dr. Kamala Shankar and Pt. Rajeev Janardan, represents the unique feature of the relationship estabilished through the blend of music by the Gurus (Masters) and shishyas (disciples). The participant Gurus are:

Dr. Kamala Shankar - shankar-guitar
Pt. Rajeev Janardan - sitar, surbahar
Shailendre Janardan - violin

The participant disciples are:

Svetlana Janardan (Russia) - sitar
Tóth Szabi (Hungary) - sitar
Romain Loyer (France) - sitar

The Shankara Orchestra plays Hindustani Classical Music in the traditional, but unique way. Between the individual improvisation or layakari parts, the different instruments play well developed, classical compositions of the Hindustani tradition, in the way of 'gayaki ang'.
